Why are dad's so stupid in TV commercials? It has become a cliche that the dad makes a huge mess because they are too incompetent to make a sandwich without spilling the crock pot, dropping milk all over the kids and burning the house down. A bit extreme? Probably. But you get the point.
The mom is always coming to the rescue with the cleaning product. Ladies- are we that bad? Usually the kids and the dog is also contributing to the mess, too. The dad shouldn't have been left unsupervised. Here's a decent example.
It seems innocent. The problem is that there are hundreds of commercials from national brands that portray this same message over and over. It's a reinforcement that dads aren't fit for that kind of stuff. They should stick to working and seeing the kids at night under mom's supervision.
Just something to keep in mind. Well, I better go. Sounds like Paxton just knocked the refrigerator over under my supervision. Oh, it's okay. Caitlynne just got home with some Bounty paper towels. We're all good.
